Welcome to the September issue of the CAFÉ cup!

Welcome to the CAFE cup for September,

This has been an exciting month. Photoshop World in Boston was a great event. I met lots of new people and got to see some of my old friends once again. We launched the new Wacom training video at the booth and the response was overwhelming. A lot of people were telling me that they had a tablet but didn't use it much because they really didn't know how and how this DVD was a much needed resource. Read about it in this newsletter as well as a chance to get it at a discount. Watch out for the Digital Photographer magazine which is running an interview on my photo realistic Illustration work, the new Shutterbug magazine is doing an article too. Check out Macromedia.com because the new Studio 8 is now shipping and it's nice!

I hope you enjoy this issue of CAFE Cup.

Tell your friends and get them to sign up on the list, they may just win a prize. There were 4 new winners this month. Prizes awarded weekly! As always this list will never be shared or sold to slimy spammers. Write to me and let me know what you would like to see in the Newsletter.

First I want to say that your tutorials are great, and I really appreciate the time and effort you put in to it. A couple of weeks ago I was being test in Photoshop for Aquent ( the Temp Agency). I had to mask two images, then place them on a third image, and add some other miscellaneous effects. Well, after about 25-30 minutes of me painting in the masks by hand, my agent told me my time was up. I couldn’t believe it, I really wanted the project to look great, and took my time. Well She looked at my work and was nice enough to reschedule me for re-testing.

When I got home I had received the new Café newsletter, and it just so happened to have your color range masking technique in it. Well when I went back in it took me about 8 minutes to do the piece. When I told her I was done, she just couldn't believe it. The other day I was placed at a great job with benefits, and most of it is because of your tutorials. I really just want to thank you.

Layer TIPs

Copy multiple layers between documents

Layer Groups (Previously knows as sets) can be dragged between documents. Click on the layer group's folder icon and drag it into the body of another document.  When you release the mouse button, the layer group including all it’s contents are now copied to the new document. Now, this is the way to copy more than one layer between documents!

Take out the trash

Quickly delete all the unwanted layers, by turning off their display (Click the little eye to the left of the layer), then hit the little arrow at the top right and choose delete hidden layers. If this option is grayed out, select a visible layer as your working layer and try again.
