From the road

Photo Plus Expo New York
This was a great trip! With over 20,000 photographers hungry for all the new gear and news in the industry, this was a great location for us to Launch our new title, Digital Photographer's Special OPS. The booth was constantly flooded with people checking out the PhotoshopCAFE training videos. I also did a unscheduled presentation at the Wacom booth, which was a hit because I opened up the floor for tutorial requests and we covered everything from an impromptu collage to lighting effects.

Have you ever wanted an easier way to change layers and work on them?
With the Move tool selected, choose “Show Bounding box” from the options bar. The active layer will now have a dotted box around it.
Hold down the Cmd key (Ctrl PC) and click on an object to select its layer.
The bounding box will allow you to see which layer is active. As a bonus you can drag the handles on the bounding box to make transformations to the layer such as scaling and rotating..

How to Wow with Flash

Yippie! My new book is finally out. It was unveiled at Photoshop World and Flash Forward. I was told that this was the #3 best seller at Flash Forward. This is for beginners and intermediate Flash users.

I follow the same approach that I have with Photoshop training. You will learn how to create all the cool things you have seen with Flash without all the confusing jargon. Make all kinds of animation and transitions, things will sparkle, metal will shimmer and you will even make realistic moving smoke. Learn how to build entire sites in Flash… 2 ways! Easily add video, green screen effects and all kinds of video effects to web pages. Want to create an old-time looking video in Flash? No problem. Add sound, music, dynamic scrolling text, email forms, galleries etc. In total there are over 70 fast paced, recipe-style projects. All source files are included on the CD. If you have always wanted to learn Flash or know the basics but looking for some really awesome techniques to make your work look like the pros.. this is the book for you

Duplicating color stops in the Gradient editor
Have you even struggled to exactly reproduce  a color stop in the gradient editor? This is especially noticeable when the beginning and end colors are a bit different in a radial gradient. To make an exact copy of a color stop simply hold down the alt/option key and drag a color stop (those little triangles) now instead of it moving you will be dragging out a duplicate. Very handy for fast custom gradients.
