Realy, How bad you need a HITecH phone?
Just so the thread about the new verizon phone "Droid"
yeah its seem realy cool and all,
And make me think about this:
I just have to get rid of my NOKIA N95,
& just bought a cheap 20usd phone at 7eleven...
The only feature i miss is the 5mpcamera,cause portability(i have a sony also), never used the GPS, WiFI, (i have the ipod touch) , not even load
music on it, i mean...
i text a lot and make a lot of calls but thats it...
Just as My 20usd Lg, wich is also lighter and smaller...
I hate to read my mail on the phone ( to small and anoying to write on) and im not a high executive or something, like my girlfriend that sleeps more
with the Blacberry Than me,( yeah i Know)
On top of that you probably have an Ipod already, a decent camera or two, an integrated Gps in your car, maybe a laptop and a desktop at home.....
So,
do you realy need a Hi-tech phone?

Exactly. No one uses that crap... that's why Koodo is gaining popularity. It's just chat & text. No music/movies/tv/other.
I would still love an iPhone though because then I'd be reducing the number of gadgets in my pocket. I'm always with my ipod just for email/fb.

LOL
What if you forgotten to bring your camera, your mp3 out?
I prefer 1 device to many. And always better to have a spare, you never know when you will hit those once in an unexpected moment.
But oh well, I would usually bring out my camera and phone. MP3 no, cause I only listen/sing while driving and since I no longer travel on public
transport, I have no need for mp3 player to shut off the commotion and the noise.

Don't even need a lowtech phone. I'm either at one of two places, work or home, if ya can't reach me there, I really didn't want to talk to ya
anyway. Doesn't matter how hitech the phone is, ya can't get signal
in the canyon that I drive twice a day to and from work. So even for an emergency, the darn things are no more useful than a skipping stone.

It depends on what you use your phone for and where you travel the most. For me I like the iPhone since it is my camera, mp3 player and web/email
terminal in my pocket. I also carry a Blackberry for pure business emails as its cleaner and easier to move around the various emails/contacts with a
single key press.
Now when I travel is where it gets confusing. Currently I have an iPhone, iPod (to keep the phone battery), Blackberry, and Nokia N95 (for live
streaming conferences). Then of course my laptop and digital SLR but those aren't phones lol.
So basically, use whatever the heck you want and be happy in your own preferences.
PS: I think the Droid will be awesome.. as is the Palm Pre and Nokia N97

I waited and waited for Verizon to pick up the i-phone. But as soon as heard about the Droid. I started the research. I got it last Friday. Sure there
are some apps that are ridiculous to have. But all of your contacts are in one place. You can email, text, IM or phone someone. And today I tried out
the GPS navigator. It's better than my Garmin. So far so good.

Sigh. What a thread.
My phones just broke (w910i and htc touch) one after the other in 2 weeks.
So now looking at new phones, but not interested in iphone or phones tts too high end. Not budget issue, but see no necessity.
I only want a phone, a msging device and mp3 would be good. Ability to check emails on the fly would be a bonus.
Any recommendations? Maybe the HTC Dream. Not the best phone but at least it has a qwerty keypad for typing.

I can't really imagine life without an iPhone anymore.
I was sick of always carrying around my iPod, Cell phone, and even laptop at times.
The iPhone has really changed my life (not necessarily because of that device, as I'm sure any similar unit would have the same effect). I could
never go back to a basic phone.

Android is pretty slick, my family is buying the Nook e-book reader which has that as the operating system. Hope the phone works well for you.

I do everything but make calls on my iphone (unless I absolutely have too), although people do try to call me. I mostly use it to store info synced
from the mac, play games when waiting in line at the bank or airport, check my email when away from homebase, read ebooks at night in bed, and to, in
general, frack off when I should be working by trying out all the cool apps on Appulous (note: always buy if you decide to use). But to answer the
question, I absolutely need a "hitech" phone if not just for the LARGER numbers on a screen, as I can no longer see anything small without glasses,
which I am always losing. I need a Find_Glasses app using GPS, that would make my iphone complete.

oh yeah...no need for a booklight or candles or anything. i find the page turning much easier and i never lose my place anymore. i still pass out
after a few dozen pages, but that has nothing to do with technology...
