Sound Of Silence
Hi!!
Okay, I have NO sound on my PC...
(MESH PC - Windows XP Home Edition 2002, Pentium4 3.4GHz, 256MB RAM, 204GB HDD, Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard, NVidia GeForce FX 5900XT
Graphics)
...and haven't since I moved home about 18 months ago... I have tried all the obvious... including (and tried at least three times in case I missed
something...)
1. checked speakers - plugged into iPod, working fine.
2. Checked ALL (and I do mean ALL!!) volume controls on PC, NOTHING is on mute and nothing is lower than moderate or loud volume.
3. Digital Output is not ticked/checked.
4. Opened up tower, dusted, cleaned, unplugged, plugged-in, checked for scorch marks and broken stuff on Sound card.
5. checked for no yellow '!' in the device manager...
6. installed all Creative Sound Blaster updates for my sound card
7. de-frag, registry clean-up, disk clean...
to be honest, there isn't a lot I haven't checked... although - I can get into the BIOS but I'm not sure what I should be looking for and what I
might be able to change...
If anyone has any advice I would be SOOOO grateful... I'm even beginning to miss the Windows' open and close tunes...!!
Please help if you can!!
Kat
