Tee Design (Entry 1, 2, and 3 in!)
Entry 1

Entry 2

Entry 3

These are tee-shirt graphics for a competition http://www.tee.youth.sg for students(well,
I'm still a student )
Competition closes 30th May.. I still have time for 3rd entry hopefully, everyone allowed 3 entries
There's no restrictions on amount of colours, I would usually keep it under 5 but oh well, I didn't take much heed of my 5 colours preference this
time around.
Comments and critiques welcome as usual. Lots of pen tool tracing, filling, and sometimes getting a design to look right can take hours. Some recycled
graphics done previously(flower and ink splash in entry 1) as well
Look carefully at entry 2, you will see something else. Hint(an abstract face built up, if you can't see it, that's ok)
sry abt the watermarks.
Edit : Entry 3 updated here as well
Links updated.

I like the 1st one. The gramaphones look awesome. I especially like the green color you used. The speaker feels a little out of place because there
aren't any other anachronistic images of music technology (i.e. there aren't also cd player, mp3 player, eight track, etc.).
The 2nd one gets a little too jumbled (imo) and the color scheme doesn't work for me as well.
Overall, awesome work as always. Good luck with the
contest.

Pretty good works both of them. Firt one is my favorite because of the colors you have chosen. I like the abstract idea in the second entry. Did you
do the drawing by yourself? I would use t shirts like those

thanks guys(&gal) for the critiques and comments.. that was fast
guys are always guys, unable to take pink
heh jusu, i'm hopeless with drawing from scratch, those are traced or "vectorised" with pen tools and some tricks from stock images.. for example, the gramophone can be found here too(http://www.rayvolvez.com/about.htm) in its original stock image state
if u want the shirts, let me know.. i'm always on lookout for tee printer in my area..

I like the 2nd one more possibly in the same color as the 1st. Also i would ditch the little money sign and rider type. possibly that small sign
alltogether. It looks a little out of place.

Thanks the_biggest_lebowski, jusu, ryuneo, Hrc, viktoriya, Politik, Dazzle, Barry, Vinny, elemento, George and paradox for the comments.
I rushed my previous reply as I was flying to sleep, 2a.m. Now for a more detailed reply
What was required of this competition/contest (www.tee.youth.sg) was to create a tee shirt graphic that shouts you. So the tee-shirts are related to
me. I should have explained when I first posted, but well sleep has the better of me
so for Idea Entry 1, it was a literal interpretation of "shout", which is why I did a "loud" entry with gramo and speakers. I
would have included vinyls, cds, more speakers if not for trying to keep it simpler. And a design that shouts you, I've always love Gramophones! They
are classic and an art to gaze at
Actually I do agree with the_biggest_lebowski, Politik that Entry 2 looks kind of messed up and well, unfortunately
that was the idea - beat up or thrashed up vehicles to create an abstract facial look. I somehow think that the watermark makes it look worse, but I
can't afford not watermarking before competition ends.
Idea of Entry 2 as I said in my submission is the idea of Free Ride. I hope to be a freerider, because all the public transport money
I pay a day just travelling to and fro school, two hours per journey is enough to make me broke. But morally and ethically I can't. Because my future
career is teaching, have you seen a teacher not pay fares on the bus or train? LOL
As Vinny said, the sign feels out of place, that means I have got the idea of "out of place", its not supposed to look "in place"
like a standard design. I know that drawing the equation of youth rebellion = out of place graphics is abrupt, but that's possible, hopefully. Also
there is this feel of freestyle, I love freestyle and abstract art since young. Have that inclination towards freestyle abstracts, which explains why
I created a freestyle abstract vehicle design here.
And FreeRider, you're free to interpret, (alternate interpretation) as the abstract shows a face, and a woman's face to be exact,
if guys wear it, hmmmmmmm the alternate interpretation is....... I leave it up to you.
------------
I specially "vector-fied" the design for tee-shirt purpose, so it will be printable, but the amount of colours will most probably make printers
hate me, if the shirts materialise into print(if i win in the contest that is), unless they uses iron on technology instead of
silkscreen printing.
Barry, I guess you mean "hate" instead of "love"?
But I suppose if I do win, the printers might love me because it might sell?
-------------
And oh thanks Ryan for the linky, I will check it out

"window to my heart" is a lot different look but it fits the competition (you said it fits you) and is well executed.
If it was me going to my drawer i would grab the green or brown shirt first. (probably in that order) But like you said, thats probably because im
youngER and really like that freestyle look

i agree that the green or brown shirt is more eyecatchy.. maybe i might consider a different colour for the black shirt oh well.. i've sent my entry so i will just sleep on it
yeah windows to my heart is a different look altogether, competition supposed to do a shirt that shouts you, that says you, so i guess it fits the
theme, and i've been wanting to do something like this too

I REALLY like the window to my heart design. Perhaps even more than the gramaphone design. First, because almost ALL my t-shirts are black (not
because I'm emo, just fat. Black can be very slimming .)
Second, I think the design has a cleverness to it that the other two don't have. The other two are nice designs, but I personally think this design
has a universality to it that anyone can relate to.
I think I might be rambling here, so I'll just finish up by saying this is wonderful work and I hope you win the contest.

Thanks Lebowski.. Yeah I like the black one as this has been an idea in my head for vvv long.. A window that will show a heart, and maybe I can create
a window on my cap and that will show the brain. That will be cool
And yes, black is slimming! I had people who tell me, hey you lost weight wherever I wear black!
I do hope I win too, although I might be kind of like bullying kids/students who are participating... But hey I'm a student too!

Like the idea behind No 3, and agree with Big L. Something's not quite right though... maybe something to do with the frame... too dominant?... I
don't know... tthe printer would have to do a real good job for it to work well. If the printer does a good job, I'll buy one!
I think the green shirt with loudspeakers is probably the most commercial one.
Nice work and good luck.
